All around the globe, water symbolizes life and is perceived as a blessing to life. Clean water is not a luxury. It’s a human right but not all are lucky to fully enjoy it. For many people every single drop of water is luxurious. Many women walk for several km in hard terrains to fill their yellow plastic tanks with water. Young girls are fetching litres of water every day, carrying the load on their own body. In many countries, people depend on rain and water for their food supply. Millions of children suffer from water shortages due to reduced rainfall. According to the UN, 800 million people do not have access to clean water globally. It’s unfortunate that we too often take water for granted and don’t realize how blessed we are.
