Catch the fish

From: 90,00

We had trekked two days around Lake Bosomtwi; the biggest natural lake in Ghana. We passed by tiny and small villages, exploring the local life and enjoying all the happy and smiling kids running after us. It was during this time, in Ghana that I started to shoot portraits. It was by this lake I told myself to dare to get close to people, step out from my comfort zone and try to capture their life and images in a closer way that I never tried before during my travels. I gave it a try as we started the trek and it turned out to be beyond my wildest imagination! People loved it and together we had so much fun shooting and looking at the images in my old Nikon. Nevertheless, we spent the night at a local family’s house sleeping on tiny mattresses on the mud floor. Before sleeping we took a bath in the lake having the hosting village kids as an audience. Just when we were going to step in to the water my eyes were caught by the local fishermen that were on their tiny handmade wooden boats catching the fish of the day. It was getting a bit dark while I was trying to capture some of the fishermen in action. That’s when I took this shoot. Later when I came home to Cape Coast where I lived and downloaded the images I saw a little more than I saw in the tiny screen on the camera. The fisherman’s pants were down!
